Porcupine Tree Tour/Live DVD

Porcupine Tree have announced that their concert film, filmed over two nights in The Netherlands during their Fear of a Blank Planet tour, will be released as a special edition in April and a regular retail edition in May.

The 130-minute concert film, Anesthetize, includes the entire Fear of a Blank Planet album and 11 other songs. It was directed by long-time collaborator Lasse Hoile, who also directed Steven Wilson’s Insurgentes film. The film was shot using high definition cameras and features both stereo and 5.1 surround mixes.

The special edition comes in a 120-page cloth bound hard back book, similar to the special editions of their latest album, The Incident, and Steven Wilson’s Insurgentes album, and will include the film on both DVD and Blu-Ray as well as 2 audio CDs featuring the entire concert plus one bonus track not featured in the film. The book and audio CDs are exclusive to this special edition version of Anesthetize.

There’s no word yet on pre-orders or an actual release date for either version of the film, but we’ll keep you posted.

In more live Porcupine Tree news, they’ve just added a few more dates to the second leg of their North American tour. Sadly, there are still no non-Coachella dates in California.

They’ve also added another festival date at the Ruisrock Festival in Finland.

Here are the new dates:

5/2, The Fillmore, Detroit

5/10, Mr. Smalls, Pittsburgh

5/11, The National Theater, Richmond

Yeah, I liked it, but that doesn’t really mean anything since I like everything he does.
